Governance

General Assembly

The General Assembly (GA) is the highest decision-making and conciliation body of PanAfGeo+. It provides strategic guidance for the programme and discusses matters of common interest to all partners. The GA reviews and decides on proposals submitted by the Management Committee and serves as a forum for dialogue between European and African partners.

The General Assembly is chaired by the Geological Survey of France (BRGM), as Programme Coordinator, and brings together representatives of European and African partner institutions, including EuroGeoSurveys (EGS), the Organisation of African Geological Surveys (OAGS), Work Package leadership and representatives of the European Union.

Management Committee

The Management Committee (MC) is responsible for the day-to-day steering of PanAfGeo+ and for ensuring the effective implementation of programme activities. It oversees progress against the work plan, addresses operational and coordination issues, and takes decisions with significant implications for programme execution.

The MC is composed of representatives from EGS, OAGS, the Programme Coordination team (BRGM), European and African Work Package leadership, and representatives of the European Union, ensuring balanced oversight and joint ownership.

Advisory Board

The Advisory Board (AB) is an independent consultative body composed of senior experts with relevant scientific, institutional and policy expertise. The Advisory Board provides strategic advice and quality assurance, supporting the alignment of PanAfGeo+ activities with international best practices.

The Advisory Board contributes to discussions at key governance milestones and supports the programme in maintaining high standards of relevance, credibility and impact.

Country Windows and Coordination

Country Windows operate within the PanAfGeo+ governance framework and are implemented in coordination with programme leadership, OAGS and relevant Work Packages. This ensures alignment between national priorities and programme-level objectives, while reinforcing ownership and coherence across the programme.

Governance

PanAfGeo+ is implemented through a structured governance framework that ensures strategic direction, effective coordination, transparency and balanced Africa-Europe partnership. Governance bodies provide oversight, guidance and decision-making in line with the programme’s objectives and EU requirements.
