The PanAfGeo+ Country Window in the Democratic Republic of Congo supports the strengthening of national geological capacity and the improved management of geoscientific information. The action contributes to enhancing the role of geological surveys in supporting sustainable development and resource governance.
Activities focus on capacity building for technical staff, the development and use of geoscientific data systems, and support to geological surveys in priority areas. Particular attention is given to – 1. banking historical archives in Belgium and DRC to support the national exploration strategy ; 2. improving the understanding and assessment of mineral resources, including both industrial and artisanal mining contexts.
Through these actions, the programme contributes to strengthening institutional frameworks, improving data availability and reliability, and supporting evidence-based decision-making. The Country Window also contributes to broader objectives related to sustainable resource management, transparency, and responsible use of mineral resources.
