The call for the next WP-B – Mineral Resources Assessment training is now open. This upcoming training will take place in Kitwe, Zambia, 11-21 March 2024 (IN ENGLISH).

This training aims to provide theoretical and in-the-field training aimed at integrating the concepts of mineral resources of stratabound Cu-Co mineralizations of the Copperbelt region in Zambia, part of the Lufilian Arc. The training will also include:

1. general concepts of mineral exploration,
2. field equipment that can be used,
3. field sampling, collection of data,
4. statistical treatment of data,
5. mineral exploration of the Cu-Co, Copperbelt mineralizations,
6. concepts of circular economy,
7. energy transition raw materials and critical and extended raw materials,
8. UNFC and EMREC mineral resources classification.

This session is co-organised by the Geological Survey of Zambia, the Geological Survey of Portugal (LNEG) the Geological Survey of Poland (PGI-NRI), the Geological Survey of Slovenia (GeoZS).

The programme begins with a theoretical part, three days of field visits to Cu-Co mines and one emerald mine. At the end of the course, participants will be asked to present a “return to work plan” to set themselves objectives for applying and implementing the knowledge acquired in their organisation (e.g., elaborate an exploration program in a region of interest of it Geological Survey).

PanAfGeo is an unprecedented pan-African training programme. The programme is led by European and African Geological Surveys, and therefore combines the variety of European Geological Surveys (EGS) to the variety of African Surveys, making this a unique training offer.

The PanAfGeo-2 ‘WP-B – Mineral Resources Assessment’ training session is open to all persons who are eligible according to the conditions of the “PanAfGeo-2 Charter for Trainee”.

In order to be considered, applicants for the PanAfGeo-2 Training Session entitled ‘WP B – Mineral Resources Assessment’ must complete the documents listed hereafter:

– Application Form for the PanAfGeo-2 training session

– Letter of Commitment

– Letter of Motivation

– Passport Copy (whose validity date is 6 months later than the date of return to the country).

These documents will be requested during the online registration (files to be uploaded in PDF format only on the portal). The applications should be submitted solely on the portal and not be sent directly to the training leaders.

The deadline for applications is  31 January 2024 at 24:00 GMT.
